Die Toten Hosen
어쨌든, 독일이 월드컵에서 선전하면서 독일축구대표팀에, 거기서 더 나아가 독일이라는 나라 자체에 없던 호감이 생겼다는 이들을 주변에서 종종 볼 수 있다. 특히 경기 시작 전에 나오는 독일의 웅장한 국가(國歌)에 매료됐다는 사람들도 있다.
이런 시대적 분위기에 편승(?)해서, 평소에 많이 좋아하는 독일노래 하나를 소개한다.
Die Toten Hosen은 독일의 국민 Rock그룹이라고 해도 손색이 없는 밴드이다. 모국인 독일뿐만 아니라 유럽 전역에 팬들이 꽤 있을 정도로 인기가 있다. 세월이 세월인지라 밴드 구성원들의 평균나이가 조금 많아보이긴 하지만 특유의 펑크넘버들은 힘이 철철 넘친다. 게다가 독어 가사도 매우 매력적이다. 람슈타인(Rammstein)과 더불어 내게 '독일어 가사가 매력적인 Rock음악'을 하는 밴드라서 아주 좋아한다.
각설하고, 노래를 소개한다. 제목은 'Ich bin die Sehnsucht in dir'이다. 영어로 직역하면 대충, 'I'm the longing in you'정도?; 조용하게 verse를 타고 가다가 chorus에서 뻥뻥 터뜨리는게 아주 시원하다. 내가 선호하는 곡구성.

Pete Loeffler(Chevelle)
그간 많은 앨범을 내며, 그리고 많이 팔아치우며(?) 그들의 음악성과 대중에 대한 힘을 유감없이 보여준 Chevelle. 그리고 그 중에서도 밴드의 기타리스트이며 메인보컬, 곧 중심이라고 할 수 있는 Pete Loeffler는 예전부터 내게 동경의 대상이었다.
감수성 풍부한 특유의 클린보컬과 코러스에서 내지르는 샤우팅의 독특함, 그리고 감성적이면서도 하드한 기타리프가 날 비롯한 많은 청자의 귀를 사로잡았다.
가사 하나하나를 곱씹어보며 아래의 곡, Letter From A Thief을 감상해보자.
개인적으로는 Drop B로 로우튜닝된 그의 PRS기타와 Mesa Boogie 앰프헤드의 환상적인 조합이 만들어내는 곧고 육중한 사운드에도 계속 매료되는 곡. 절대 잔뜩 들어간 gain때문에 시끄럽지 않은, 특유의 메사부기 사운드가 청자를 압도한다.
그리고 멋진 코러스, If you ever entered my mind, stay there, you'll live.
이 곡은 차트에서도 매우 선전했고, 선전하고 있다.

amy저도 옛날부터 셰빌 특유 의 감정이 깃든 내지르는 음악이 좋아 아직도 잊지 않고 가끔 듣는답니다~ 앨범 자주 냈으면 좋겠어요.. : )

2010/07/24 13:40 [Edit/Del]저랑 음악취향이 비슷하시군요! 아직까지는 다른 밴드들보다 앨범 열심히 자주자주 내는 것 같아요~ 퀄리티도 나쁘지 않아서 애착이 듬뿍가는 밴드.

저는 셰빌 [Jars]와 [The Red]로 작년에 알게 되었는데... ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
그러다가 이 밴드가 좋아가지고 다른 곡들 더 찾아보니까 좋은 곡들이 많더군요.
요즘은 Letter From A Thief하고 Well Enough Alone,Panic Prone이란 곡을 듣는....
하여튼, 계속 앨범 발매 했으면 좋겠네요.
그나저나... 이 곡 라이브는 없나....-

그리고 이 곡은 타이틀 곡이기 때문에 라이브영상 굉장히 쉽게 볼 수 있어요~ youtube.com에 가서 치면 high quality의 영상들 쫙 나옵니다.

오늘은 왠지 마릴린 맨슨의 간지폭풍송, Devour가 땡긴다. 맨슨의 사상에 문제를 제기하는 사람은 많지만...음악성에 대해선 큰 이견이 없을 거라고 본다. 물론, 이런저런 이유로 음악성까지 들먹이며 맨슨을 까는 사람은 많지만.
나도 그의 음악에 녹아있는 사상에는 그닥 동의하지 않지만, 그의 음악이 내뿜는 포스와 힘, 그리고 가슴속에 콕콕 박히는 메세지의 힘에는 경의를 표한다.
오늘 같은 조용한 새벽에는 devour가 어울린다. 조용히 verse를 진행하다가 막판에 뻥 터트리는 멋진 노래.

밴드 Slipknot의 베이시스트 Paul Gray가 미국 현지시간으로 2010년 5월 24일 아침, Iowa주 Des Moines의 투숙하던 호텔방에서 사망한채로 발견됐다. 현재까지 사인(死因)에 대해선 알려진 바가 없고, 지역경찰은 부검을 할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
아래 Kerrang! 기사를 보니 HALE!과 앨범 작업중이었다는데, 충격적이다. 불과 몇분 전까지도 Slipknot 노래를 듣고 있었는데 우연히 이 비보를 접했다. 메가톤급 밴드 Slipknot의 일원인지라 다른 팬들의 충격도 상당히 클듯.
According to the Associated Press, the body Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was discovered this morning (May 24) in a room in the Town Plaza hotel in the band's home town of Des Moines, Iowa. He was 38 years old.
No further details are available at this time, although local police say they intend to carry out an autopsy to determine the cause of his death tomorrow (Tuesday, May 25).
Prior to his death, Gray had been working on an album with HALE!, a metal supergroup featuring former Judas Priest frontman Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and band mates at this sad time.

여자 보컬의 목소리도 괜찮고, 듣기 좋은 얼터너티브, 포스트그런지 풍 사운드를 들려준다. 오랜만에 다시 들었는데, 그 때의 추억과 감동이 밀려온다.
Gravity말고 뭔가 좀 우울하면서도 훅이 살아있는 Down Again을 첨부한다.
아오...군생활의 남은 일주일은 그 전까지의 어떤 기간보다 가장 긴 것 같다. 누군가 그랬지, '군생활은 제대휴가 일주일 전부터 시작'이라고...맞는 것 같다.
Q. 언제나 이런 위기를 이겨내는 힘의 원천은?
